Today, the Pennsylvania SPCA removed 23 chihuahua-mix adult dogs from an abandoned property in In Pocono Lake in Monroe County.  Four of the dogs were puppies.

After a search warrant was executed earlier today after receiving a tip, the PSPCA found the dogs living in feces. The investigation is ongoing by the Humane Law Enforcement officers.

The chihuahua-mix dogs are being evaluated further at the PSPCA headquarters.  The dogs are under protective custody and not currently available for adoption.

“Every dog deserves love and attention from a responsible owner,” said Pennsylvania SPCA CEO Jerry Buckley.  “We are dedicated to addressing animal cruelty in Monroe County and in 23 other counties across the state of Pennsylvania.”

To report animal abuse, call the Pennsylvania SPCA’s cruelty hotline at 1-866-601-SPCA.
