$5,000 REWARD NOW OFFERED FOR DOGFIGHTING TIPS LEADING TO ARREST AND CONVICTION OF DOGFIGHTERS

September 30, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

I had seen this headline scrolling on the bottom of my tv screen yesterday but have had a difficult time accessing this important news item via the internet. Don’t know why that is.
The State General’s Office and the HSUS are partnering to offer $5000 reward to anyone who can lead them to those who get arrested and convicted of dogfighting in the state of PA. How ironic this news comes on the heels of Michael Vick’s return to the football field this past Sunday. Attorney General Tom Corbette has stated the two items are not related.
Michael Vick, for better or worse, has shed a bright light on the world of dogfighting like no other. If it hadn’t been for the horrid acts he committed against the dogs, many people would not understand this underground world of brutality.

But in light of what has transpired with Vick, more dogfighting rings have been busted. This is good news. However, the disturbing news is that some dogfighting rings have gone more underground. As you travel down the highway, just be aware that the tractor trailer that you just passed may have dogs fighting to the death in that very truck. Dog fighting rings have resorted to this method so they can’t be caught.
It is a felony to not only to be involved with dogfighting but watching a dogfight as well. You can receive up to seven years in jail for this if convicted. You can also be fined $15,000.
Anyone who knows of a dogfighting ring is told to contact their local police department or the HSUS’s tipline at 1-877-TIP-HSUS. Help save these dogs from this brutal cruelty!
