75 CATS – YES, YOU HEARD RIGHT- WERE REMOVED FROM A CARBON COUNTY HOME THIS PAST FRIDAY

July 12, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

All I can say is unbelievable! Seventy-five cats were removed from a home in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County this past Friday.
Cats screaming, throwing themselves against a wall, jumping at the door- all of this happened as the Humane Society of Carbon County Humane Officers approached the house to remove these homeless cats.
These cats were abandoned by their owner who previously would stop by and feed and water them. Neighbors say they could hear at least 50 cats screaming in unison to get out!
According to Donna Crum, Carbon County Humane Officer, charges are likely for the homeowner. What? Why isn’t that certain? These cats were abandoned and were going crazy. The house was sealed shut with no air conditioning. And the owner MIGHT be charged? Come on, charge this idiot!
I am just sick and tired of people not being penalized with jail time for abandoning, abusing, maiming or killing innocent creatures who have done nothing to them. Having them paying a fine is not good enough any longer. What kind of message are we sending to the perpetrators? I guess we could look at Derbe “Skip” Eckhart and know the answer to that one.
