BERKS COUNTY CRIME ALERT OFFERING REWARD FOR DOG BEING THROWN OUT OF CAR

April 2, 2012 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

That Sunday night started with a call from my oldest sister, Heather. She explained that Karen was in need of some help with a foster dog. She explained the dog was thrown out of a moving car and now needed an Iv and someone to look after it over night while Karen was at work. The vet had said he would not have released the dog to Karen unless she promised the dog would go to someone who knew how to work an Iv and look for signns of distress. Heather put together that my mom was the perfect person beings she was a nurse and had fosters before. We received Bj within an hour or so. I couldn’t of prepared myself for what I saw. This dog was matted so bad you couldn’t see his face without lifting the hair up and it was hard to tell if it was a he or she. When you did pet the dog, it was skin and bones. The matted hair was all of its weight! I was determined to love this dog back to life!My mom and I have a traditon with our fosters. They all get a “binky” It is a stuffed animal that we give them and they can have for the rest of their lives. Stella still has hers! Bj got a orange and yellow stuffed dog. We used the binky to put under BJ’s jaw as the vet thought it was broken. Bj loved it! Picture of this on the rescue page. Hard to believe it is the same dog! What struck me with BJ was that even with all he was through he just wanted to be close to my mom and I. Inching himself closer to us even if he was in my arms. This dog craved love!
My mom and I had to work the next morning and knew this was going to be a long night and quickly thought of our neighbor to help us. Our neighbor Chris is a retired nurse with a small dog of her own and loves animals. She would love this opportunity! We called Karen to get it oked and she agreed to let Chris take the dog overnight and she would pick up Bj when she was done with work at 7 a.m. Our neighbor Chris put Bj on the living room floor next to their fireplace and expected her dog to want nothing to do with BJ. Her dog did the complete opposite. You couldn’t seperate them! Bj, Sprinkles and Chris spent the night next to the fireplace. Chris called Karen to notify her of Bj peeing out all blood. Karen said she would pick him up when she was done with work and take him back to the vet to get a better look over. They could only do so much Sunday night for him! Karen picked up Bj Monday morning and told us she would call with updates. Sadly the news was not good. She told us she got Bj to the vet and he sadly died before they could treat his injuries ๐Ÿ™ She had gotten Bj shaved before the vet and boy did he look good. Bj showed no signs of shock other than the peeing of blood. His attitude was good, Never crying or growling when touched or moved
