CHRISTMAS “TAIL” OF ALLIE AND HUNTER

December 23, 2011 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

I received the following video (http://youtu.be/qT7-iSzKd5Y) from my friend, Steven Hoover. I hope you will the enjoy the reunion as much as I did. A dog, Hunter, goes missing after a car accident on December 11 of this year. Hunter is pictured here.

This is reminiscent of when my dog, Buddy, who escaped from Dad’s backyard while he was dogsitting for me. It was New Year’s Eve and we had no idea where Buddy was. We asked anyone and everyone if they had seen him. Someone did. The location was several blocks from my dad’s home. That was the last place anyone had seen him until we called radio station, WEEU, to announce the disappearance of Buddy. He was now in Shoemakersville at a gun club. He could be seen running back and forth at the top of the hill of the club while guys were shooting targets below.

{We deduced that he had to have been picked up and driven away in a car to get to that destination. Funny thing about Buddy, he wouldn’t go to strangers but he would jump in your car.}

A neighbor across the road at the gun club saw him and finally coaxed him to eat some food but he wouldn’t go near the couple.

We placed flyers, called the shelters, put ads in the paper and called radio stations. After five, long days, it appeared we wouldn’t find Buddy. We only had Buddy for a month after adoptoing him from the Humane Society.

It was one of our flyers that caught the attention of a man who found a dog filled with stickers in his garage near Hamburg which is where my dad was living at the time. I was in shock and disbelief when I heard the man’s voice. Our prayers were answered. We finally had our Buddy back at home where he lived a long, full life and he never ran away again!

Moral of the story- don’t give up! Do everything possible to get the word out about your missing pet and today you can use social media.

Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah everyone!!!
