I received an email from a friend letting me know that our good ole’ buddy (insert sarcasm), Derbe Eckhart, was arrested in Lehigh County prison for assaulting a corrections officer. She continued to write that Eckhart had taken some pills from a prison nurse and refused to give them back. The corrections officer, Darrel Massini, was punched in the stomach as he tried to retrieve the pills from Eckhart who did not want to return them. This incident happened on May 22nd and he went before District Justice Karen Devine this morning.
Wait there’s more. Eckhart then “resisted commands from officers who wanted to remove him from his cell, pushing and kicking as more guards attempted to subdue him.”
As a result of his moronic actions, Eckhart is facing aggravated assault, simple assault and resisting arrest charges. As a result of his “misconduct”, Eckhart has been sent into disciplinary segregation for 40 days for now. His hearing about these charges is set for next Tuesday.
According to the report, Eckhart will remain in the disciplinary segregation area until July 5th.
While in the segregation area of the prison, Eckhart will be allowed out of his cell for one hour each day for five days each week. What is he allowed to do the other days – he can take a shower.
He STILL has it better than what he did to his dogs in the awful puppymill he ran!
Eckhart ran Almost Heaven Kennel for decades before it was finally shut down. Eckhart received six months to 23 months jail sentence for two counts of animal cruelty last month.
What can I say? What can anyone say? Are you surprised? Me either.
