DERBE ECKHART IS NOT ALLOWED TO SELL ANY DOGS WHILE HE APPEALS THE REVOCATION OF HIS 2009 KENNEL LICENSE

February 6, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

I just received wonderful news. Derbe “Skip” Eckhart, owner of Almost Heaven Kennels is prohibited from selling or buying dogs while he is appealing the denial of his 2009 kennel license. Under the old dog law, Eckhart would still be able to operate his business until all appeals are exhausted.
This came to me as a surprise and absolute great news! Other good news is the fact that this man isn’t allowed to euthanize any of his current animals without a veterinarian and notifying the proper officials if he chooses to do this. This is fantastic and unprecedented!! It doesn’t mean, however, that he won’t have them euthanized.
He will be able to transfer the dogs he does have to animal shelters for adoptions. The question remains – will he do this? Knowing this man has run a kennel for decades and as his main source of income, I find it difficult to believe he will transfer any of his dogs until the appeals process is completed. But then again, I am surprised over this news, so who knows?!
