DERBE ‘SKIP’ ECKHART PLEADS GUILTY TO TWO COUNTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY AND SEVERAL VIOLATIONS OF DOG LAW

September 22, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Derbe “Skip” Eckhart pled guilty today in a Lehigh County Courtroom to two counts of animal cruelty that stems on a raid on his former “Almost Heaven” Kennel in 2008. The kennel is now closed when it was permanently shut down this past June.
The state dog law violations stem from a raid earlier this year when it was found he exceeded the number of dogs he was permitted to have on his property after his license renewal was denied.
Eckhart has been ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation at his own expense.
Eckhart will be sentenced November 16th.
Let me understand this. The PSPCA held one of the largest raids in history on a puppymill in October 2008 (Almost Hell) and the man who ran this hellhole only pleads to two counts of animal cruelty. Does this make sense to anyone or am I missing a piece of the puzzle? You tell me.
