DOG TAGS- THERAPY DOGS FOR WAR VETERANS

December 2, 2010 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

I volunteered at the Lebanon VA Hospital last week for Thanksgiving. It was such a rewarding experience for me. To be among the men and women who fight for our freedom and our country was truly a honor for me.

I saw this clip after my experience and wanted to share it with others who may have not have had the opportunity to see it on the news. I had never heard of this program. I hope you will take the time to watch the short clip.

The organization, PuppiesBehindBars.com, is a fantastic group that partners war veterans with dogs to help those who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

If you would like to cheer up a veteran this Christmas, the following would be an easy but an effective tool to accomplish it:

When filling out your Christmas cards this year, take ONE CARD and send it to this address: A Recovering American Soldier C/O Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue NW Washington, DC 20307-5001. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these soldiers could get to bring up their spirits!
