DOG THROWN OFF SIXTH STORY ROOF IN NEW YORK

August 1, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

It never ceases to amaze the lengths people will go to abuse their own pet. Oreo (pictured) was the cruel victim of her owner throwing her off the sixth story roof where her owner, Fabian Henderson, 19, lives in New York. Astoundingly, this tough girl survived! That is a miracle itself.
Poor Oreo had to all of her limbs surgically repaired with plates and screws. She has also suffered internal bruising and damage to her lungs.
According to the ASPCA, Oreo, will take a long time to heal but she is able to walk again. Unbelievably fantastic news!
Henderson was arrested and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment. Neighbors had called the ASPCA when they heard her being beaten inside of the apartment only to call later to let them know that she was thrown off the roof.
Let me get Henderson’s stories straight……first, he said the dog didn’t belong to him. Turns out she did. Second, he did admit to the crime but later he recanted and said the dog jumped off the roof. Yeah,ok!
This has my blood boiling!! What is fundamentally wrong with people when they abuse pets in such a horrific manner? There has to be deep psychological and mental problems for someone to beat and then throw- think about- actually throw their pet off a roof.
I remember watching an episode of Animal Cops with the same type of incident. Call me a coward, but I couldn’t continue watching the episode. I was so angry and screamed at my tv during the airing of this episode.
It is past due that the maximum sentence/fines be imposed on such horrific acts of cruelty and I hope that is the case with Henderson. What does it take for anyone to see the link between animal abuse and abuse of people? Wake up people and start handing down the toughest sentences possible to these criminals!
