HUNT AT CHARLES EVANS CEMETERY HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO PUBLIC OUTCRY

January 27, 2010 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Charles Evans Cemetery
According to the latest news and public outcry, the hunt to kill twelve deer has been postponed until further notice.
The board of the cemetery has listened to the people since the story of the deer who was impaled on their green, iron fence made the news last week. That buck was killed by the Reading Police.
Since the story of the hunt leaked out, the public, including comments received on this blog and persoanl emails I’ve received, has definitely changed the course of that decision.
The board is now seeking alternative solutions and is asking for help. One of those solutions was to tranquilize and transfer the deer. According to James Stubblebine, Superintendent of the Cemetery, they were told it was ” not a good idea and only a few would survive.” If only they would have addressed this problem back in the 90’s when the first deer appeared.
If anyone has an alternative solution, please call the Charles Evans Cemetery at 610-372-1563. Once again, please be polite. They do want to hear about viable solutions and don’t need prank calls. Or you may pass your ideas along to me and I will gladly submit your ideas.
