K-9 CADAVER DOG PARALYZED IN LENHARSTVILLE

November 2, 2010 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Alex, (pictured), a K-9 cadaver used in Berks County and who was useful in the findings of five dead infants in Reading, was involved in a a car accident that has left her paralyzed. Apparently Alex ran into a car near her home in Lenhartsville.
Alex is known as one of the state’s top crime fighters. This is sad indeed. And very sad for Alex’s owners, Don and Stella Wilcox who have had her since she was 10 weeks old.

“John Adams, Berks County district attorney said, “When we have a dog that is so highly trained and so good at what it does that is a great loss to law enforcement and a great loss to the citizens of Pennsylvania.”

“Alex has been called out on many high profile police cases. Most of the time helping police finding dead and sometimes missing people.”

Alex will need physical therapy anywhere from three months to a year. Alex, I know you can do it! And I think Alex knows it too. Her reaction to the veterinarian stating she’s not sure if Alex will go back to work:
“Alex just lifted her head and looked at the doctor and had that look in her face like your wrong. I’m going back to work,” said Wilcox”
Good luck, Alex and to the Wilcox family. I know you can do it too!
