(Fallen) Officer Michael Wise
Reading Police Officer/K-9 Officer, Joshua Faust ,will run in memory for fallen officer Michael Wise this October 25th at the Marine Corps. Marathon held in Washington D.C. to help raise funds for the Michael H. Wise II Foundation.
The foundation formed in 2006 was created with four main principles in mind. Those four principles are as follows:
To celebrate the life of Michael Wise who was killed in the line of duty on June 5th, 2004.
To celebrate the lives of all law enforcement officers and firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
To organize and promote charitable events that reflect law enforcement officers and firefighters in a positive manner.
To make charitable donations to individuals and/or organizations consistent with the principles set forth above.
Thus far, this foundation has given scholarships to children of Reading firefighters and Reading Police Officers, donation to Susquehanna Service Dogs, Reading Police Department and others in the area and so much more! Check out their website to learn more.
I did not know Officer Wise personally but I will tell you I was personally touched by the loss of his life. I have visited his grave and paid my condolences to him. I felt it was something I needed to do.
So young. So much promise. But out of the tragedy of his untimely death has come positive changes. And it is evident with this foundation.
