LETTER FROM A SHELTER WORKER……

January 20, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Do you want to know what it’s like for a shelter manager dealing with the daily operations of an animal shelter. Read this anonymous letter posted by one shelter manager who gives you an account of one shelter.
I’ve been there and could relate to everything this writer had to say. Pets are wonderful and make a great addition to a family but if you’re not going to taking the commitment seriously, then don’t adopt! Too many animals are losing their lives and it’s completely unnecessary.
Think before making that decision. I’ve seen young animals die. I’ve seen puppies and kittens die because the lack of space. I held them as they died in my arms. These animals never had a chance at life. They didn’t ask to be born. I’ve seen older animals who lived for 10 years in one place and suddenly found themselves stuck in a kennel. The odds are slim to none they will leave the shelter alive. How can you do this to your pet?
THINK ABOUT THE LONG-TERM CONSEQUENCES BEFORE GETTING A PET. Too many animals are dying because of rampant stupidity, selfishness and laziness. If you can’t make a lifetime commitment, you could be sentencing that pet to an early death. That is on your conscience!
