Next week starts the jury trial of Leon Rosby, 52, who is facing felony charges of dissuading a witness and intimidating a witness from talking to police after his dog, Max, was shot and killed by the Hawthorne Police Department on June 30th, 2013. He is also charged with resisting arrest.

Warning – the video is graphic.

When a video of Max’s death (Warning – the video is graphic) went viral on the internet showing a police officer killing Max, the Police Department was besieged with calls, complaints and death threats against the officers involved in the case.

On that fateful day, Rosby was videotaping the police as they were actively involved with a standoff at the corner of 137th Street and Jefferson Avenue. He had his phone in one hand and Max’s leash in the other.  He was told repeatedly to turn down the music in his car by officers. Officers claimed they couldn’t hear each other as they were attempting to arrest a person in the standoff.

After Rosby placed Max in his car, three officers approached and cuffed him.

Max jumped out of an open window and began to bark and allegedly lunged at the officers. One of the officers attempted to retrieve Max’s leash which was still attached to his collar.but drew his gun and fired four times at Max, killing him.

On February 8th, Rosby entered a plea of Not Guilty for resisting arrest on June 30th.

Rosby’s jury trial is expected to start Feb. 18 in the LAX Courthouse in Los Angeles.  Rosby is represented by Mark Geragos, a criminal defense attorney known for representing high-profile people including the late Michael Jackson, actress Winona Rider and Scott Peterson who was convicted of killing his pregnant wife, Laci.

According to Rosby’s facebook page, he states the following: “They filed 7 bogus charges on me after they executed my puppy Max and then there witness said they made her lie or the would take her section 8 housing program from her or lock her up….crazy right?”

Rosby would not accept any plea bargains.

Rosby has had run ins with the police a number of times. He was an idiot that day. He should’ve left Max at home where he would’ve been safe and alive today.

This guy instigated the ordeal that cost his dog his life. He wants to blame the officers when it’s clear he refused to listen to them when asked to turn down his music. He also kept videotaping despite that there was a serious situation going on. Why would you take or keep your dog there?
