MUSLIMS OUTRAGED OVER THIS CUTE PUPPY

July 2, 2008 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

What is wrong with this picture?

This postcard is being used in Tayside, Scotland to promote their new police force’s phone number. It has caused an outcry of anger among Muslims in that country.
According to the the Muslims, dogs are considered impure and unclean. It has caused so much outrage that shopkeepers in Dundee have refused to display the advertisement.
So let me get this straight……the Muslims in Scotland which account for .84 % of the population in Scotland which is approximately 5 million… are so upset over the picture of this puppy named Rebel who is a dog in training for the Tayside Police Force…..are outraged and caused many Muslims to complain.
I truly don’t know what Muslims feel about dogs. I researched and found that some do find dogs unclean and impure while others say it’s ok to have a dog as long as its saliva doesn’t get on you. If your dog should lick your clothes, you need to wash them immediately. Like I said I don’t what the truth is. But I really don’t care.
I guess what bothers me most is the fact is that the Muslim population is a very small percentage of the population in Scotland. If they don’t like the postcard, don’t display it. This dog is going to be used on the police force to protect the people, including them!
Rebel was used because he had received so much adulation from children and adults alike since he was introduced to the public. They felt his popularity could be put to good use by placing him in the picture. I agree!!
The police force said they didn’t mean to be disrespectful and apologize if they offended anyone. Why should they apologize? Come on… give me a break…or maybe I just don’t get it…… Do you? Can anyone explain the big deal to me?
