ONE OF PHILADELPHIA’S LARGEST DOG FIGHTING RINGS HAS BEEN BUSTED

April 11, 2011 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Early this morning, two houses in Philadelphia were raided by police that uncovered one of the largest dog fighting rings in the area. Twelve dogs were removed from one house and six dogs from the other house. Pictured is one of the 16 people who was arrested. A third house was raided late last night.
The PSPCA removed the dogs. Other items removed included guns, narcotics, chains to control the dogs and a treadmill for the dogs.
This dog fighting ring has been under surveillance for awhile. The dogs that were removed are not up for adoption. No word on what their fate will be.
Dog fighting continues to exist even though Michael Vick shed light on this horrific act of animal cruelty after he was arrested and convicted for bankrolling a dog fighting ring at his Bad Newz Kennels. In fact, many dog fighting rings have gone underground because of the notoriety. Some rings have even resorted to using tractor trailers on the road. This is a HUGE gambling world for those who participate all at the expense of exploiting and destroying one of the nicest and loyal dog breeds.
Congrats for dismantling one of the area’s largest dog fighting rings!
