According to an AP-Yahoo News Poll, pet owners favor McCain over Obama 42 percent to 37 percent with dog owners favoring McCain. Considering the majority of people in the US have a pet, this may be the tell”tail” sign of the new president.
McCain owns quite a few pets including two dogs, a cat, a turtle, a ferret and three parakeets and saltwater fish. Hey, who’s watching these animals right now?
According to Christina Duffey, a spokesperson for the American Kennel Club (AKC), she said people usually connect with things they are familiar with, so that could be a part of why pet owners lean toward McCain.
Obama has no pets. But he did promise his one daughters that he and Michelle will get them a dog after the presidential race is over whether he wins or not. That should count for something ~ don’t you think?
But, wait the AKC is is collecting opinions as to what kind of dog Obama should get. They have narrowed the choices down to five breeds : Bichon Frise, Chinese Crested, poodle, soft coated Wheaten Terrier or miniature Schnauzer. You can go to www.presidentialpup.com to cast your vote. Woo-hoo!
