SUSAN JOHNSON, OWNER OF MOLLY WHO WAS BURIED ALIVE, PLEADS NOT GUILTY

Molly as she was found in her backyard buried up to her neck
Susan Johnson was arraigned Friday in court on animal cruelty charges. Susan and her father, Hyrum Long, of Forest Grove, Oregon, buried Susan’s dog Molly, a 14 yr. old Labrador Retriever, up to her neck. Long used a hammer to hit Molly in the head hoping to “euthanize” her. They said the dog was sick and could barely walk and they didn’t have the money to take her to a vet. They said she had cancer although a necropsy showed no signs of the disease. They also thought they would be accused of animal abuse if they did go to the vet. Johnson’s responses to the charges ~ not guilty.
If it hadn’t been for Molly’s yelping and crying while buried up to her neck, the neighbors would not have made the grisly discovery. Because of the severe blow to her head, Molly was humanely euthanized at a local humane society. It was said Molly could follow people with her eyes but was unable to pick up her head.
Johnson was charged with two counts of first-degree animal abuse, one count of second-degree animal abuse and one count each of first-degree and second-degree animal neglect. Long will be arraigned today. So much for not be accused of animal abuse!
They may not have had money to take to her to the vet but to go to the extremes they did to “kill” Molly goes beyond disturbing to me. As I said before I am unable to comprehend what they did. And on top of this they lied to the media. As Johnson was leaving the courtroom on Friday she told a reporter that she had gotten Molly in her poor condition except photos contradict that statement. But, let’s say that is true, why did she take Molly if she didn’t have money to take care of her or why didn’t she take Molly to the vet if she was in such poor condition. Tell the truth, Susan!
I have no patience nor pity for someone who would go to such horrific extremes to kill their dog. To Johnson and Long, stand up to what you did and pay the price, do the punishment and do other animals a favor and NEVER, NEVER adopt another animal as you as you live. I hope this will be a provision in their punishment. These two “people” sicken me. The lack of money does not give permission to do what these two did to Molly. May she finally rest in peace.
