UPDATE ON DOG BURIED ALIVE

October 29, 2008 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Molly ~ the 14 yr. old Yellow Labrador Retreiver who was bludgeoned with a hammer and buried alive by owner Hyrum Long and his daughter,Susan Johnson
Molly had suffered from long-term neglect not from cancer as Hyrum Long and Susan Johnson claimed. A necropsy (an autospy for animals) was performed on Molly. She was found to only weigh 56 pounds and should have weighed at least 70 – 90 pounds. There was no evidence of cancer.
Molly had also suffered from a long-term lack of nutrition. Veterinarians believe Molly hadn’t been fed in at least a week prior to her death. (Remember these two people said they went out to eat after she “died” because they were upset. They had money to feed themselves but not their dog in a week!) She also had a terrible skin condition – a loss of hair all over her body.
Hyrum Long and Susan Johnson were arrested Monday evening on animal abuse charges. They were held overnight and released on their own recognizance yesterday morning.
Hyrum Long said “I done a bad thing and I will take responsibility for it and I want to apologize to people”. That is not enough for me. I don’t know the laws in Oregon and what they can face but I hope they are punished to the fullest extent of the law.
