UPDATE ON MAN WHO ALLOWED HIS DOG TO DIE OUTSIDE IN 114 DEGREE HEAT IN CRATE

July 23, 2010 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

Charles Bell, the man from South Carolina, who purposely and maliciously allowed his dog to die a slow, cruel death in the hot, sweltering 114 degree heat heard his fate in court today.

TODAY’S COURT VERDICT: $1,092 FINE & 30 DAYS PRISON TIME (SERVED ON WEEKENDS)! PACKED COURTROOM!!! TURNED PEOPLE AWAY – NO ROOM!!!
Over 5,000 people signed a petition after being outraged over this horrific death of an innocent dog. Facebook helped to get the word out as did others.
People called the prosecutor’s office to let him know that Charles Bell must pay. ( I had written an earlier post asking people to call the prosecutor’s office.) Personally, I feel our phone calls made a difference!
This isn’t Bell’s first offense. In 2008, Bell’s two Pit Bulls were found in a cage with feces. When officers came back to see Bell did not make the necessary changes for the two dogs, he surrendered them.
While I’m glad he was fined and has received prison time, I’m more than disappointed that nothing has been mentioned that he should never be allowed to have pets again. This man is a monster to have allowed this poor girl to die a slow, agonizing death. It was done with pure maliciousness.
