“WHACK A KITTY”- SMART ADOPTION IDEA OR CRUELTY TO KITTENS?

May 28, 2009 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

A couple placed a video on youtube to help get their kittens adopted. In the video, kittens are placed in a cardboard box with nine holes. The kittens are able to fit their entire bodies through these holes.
The purpose of this box is to “whack a kitten when one pops up”. It is similar to a game found at many carnivals except no live animals are used at such places. At least I hope not!
The engaged couple who created this idea is now under fire for being cruel to their kittens. They say the sole reason was to find homes for the kittens. I believe all but one have been adopted.
Do you think this was a smart idea to get their kittens adopted or do you see this video as animal abuse? View the video and weigh in with your opinion.
Should the video be removed from youtube?
