WSPA AND IFAW HELPING ANIMALS IN HAITI

January 24, 2010 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein

I have received numerous emails asking me to donate money to help the animals in Haiti after the 7.0 earth-shattering quake hit the area on January 12th. One must be careful to whom they donate their money. People will prey upon others during a time like this to ask for your hard-earned money.
The World Society for the Protection of Animal and the International Fund for Animal Welfare have joined forces to create the Animal Relief Coalition for Haiti (ARCH). Other animal organizations have joined this relief effort including the American Humane Assocation, Best Friends Society, the HSUS and the ASPCA.
ARCH had been waiting to hear from Haiti to enter their country. As of the end of last week, Haiti had contacted WSPA for their help. They are now in Haiti.
Haiti is known to have 4-5 million head of livestock (mainly goats), a large stray dog population with some reports of rabies outbreak and some companion animals.
I know many people are most concerned about the people in Haiti, and of course, the people must come first.
If you want to give money for the animals, you can click the link below or go to any of the other rescue organizations’ websites.
Please don’t forget about our own animals in this country. Millions die each year and they need your help too!
