Adam Roberts, Executive VP of Born Free USA, to be my guest

September 23, 2013 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 18 Comments

Join me this Wednesday, September 25th at 6:30 PM as my tv program, A Close-Up Look at Animal Welfare Issues, will focus in on the Captive Primate Safety Act (HR 2856) with Adam Roberts, Executive Vice-President of Born Free USA.

HR 2856 was reintroduced this year to prohibit the interstate commerce of monkeys, apes and other primates involved in the exotic pet trade.

The exotic pet trade is a multi-billion dollar industry where people breed and sell these animals with great ease to people over the internet.

Adam will discuss why primates don’t belong in the hands of the public and the dangers of having them for both the primates and people.. These primates suffer horribly and they have the capacity to hurt, maim or kill people when they mature.

Tune in Wednesday at 6:30 PM on Comcast , Ch. 2, Service Electric, Ch. 19 or as always, you can streamline the show over the internet by clicking on this link.

For more information on the Captive Primate Safety Act, read more here.

I question if this bill will pass in a timely manner. It didn’t in 2011. Our legislators drag their feet when it comes to animals. I don’t get it. So, let’s hope it moves right away!

I find it sickening to see how many primates are being sold over the internet. Yeah, they look cute and cuddly but they’re not human. They’re not meant to live their lives in homes as children, to be dressed up like dolls. If you want a doll, buy a doll, don’t buy a living, breathing wild animal that is going to grow up and want to be wild! Stupid people!

Looking forward to hear what Roberts has to say since I believe humans should NEVER have any wild animals as pets. They belong in the wild not in our homes!

Primates don’t belong in people’s homes!! When will people understand that basic principle?

I noticed how other animal groups are involved but Born free is the only place that takes in primates. It’s all about a reason to send me an email requesting for more money every chance they get.

Good guest. Great information. I never understoody why anyone would want to keep these animals as pets. It’s unnatural. I hope this bill passes this year.
