Nicholas Joseph Luiz, 31 yrs. old, Napa, California, has been arrested for suspected animal cruelty after admitting to Napa police he killed his five-month old German Shepherd puppy, Woody.

Neighbors of Luiz called the police after witnessing the puppy being beaten in the backyard  on Tuesday, December 29th.  Witnesses report seeing Luiz abusing the puppy for the last several months.

Police went to Luiz’s home on December 29th at 11:45 PM  in the 1100 block of Massa Drive for a report of animal cruelty. There was no answer at the door..  The police returned yesterday morning (30th) at 8:30 with a search warrant.  They found the dog deceased inside the residence where Luiz admitted to the killing.

According to reports, the police believe the dog may was repeatedly slammed to the ground.

Luiz was arrested and booked at the Napa County Department of Corrections.

The police are asking for the public’s help in this case.  If you have additional information, you are asked to contact Investigator Andy Hess at 707-257-9507.

If the abuse was happening for months, why wasn’t anything done about it earlier. This dog’s life may have been spared had someone done something. Whether the neighbors called previously or the police or animal control was out there before, someone should’ve removed this puppy. I feel others are culpable in this dog’s death. What a brutal manner in which to die. This man is one angry person and should never be allowed to have another pet!

Put this bastard away! With our laws, he’ll probably only have to pay a fine. Our laws are too lenient.
