Chicago Man Arrested for Filming his Dog Tearing Apart Small Animals and Posting Online

May 11, 2018 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 7 Comments

‘Richard Eames has only been charged with misdemeanors in connection with the sadistic acts his dog did while filming him.    He took joy in having his dog rip apart and kill small animals.    Just because animal cruelty is a felony is all 50 states,  it does not mean abusers will be charged with a felony.   In fact, most abusers are charged with misdemeanors.     Our animal cruelty laws are not strong enough!’

Richard Eames, 24, was charged with animal cruelty for filming his dog, a Pit Bull / Jack Russell mix,  tearing apart and eating live, small animals.    He then posted the gruesome videos on YouTube.    Eames is proud of his dog, Shorty, for killing the animals and stated his dog will attack anything that moves.

The dog is now in custody of the Chicago Animal Care and Control unit.

Eames has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of depiction of animal cruelty and a misdemeanor count of possession of an unsterilized or vicious dog by a felon, according to Chicago police.

The brutal videos came to the police’s attention when an unidentified woman emailed the police in August 2017 about what Eames filming his dog killing many animals including a cat belonging to a neighbor and a opossum.     A petition also came to the attention of the police asking them to investigate this man and his dog.

A Cook County Circuit Court judge on Wednesday set Eames’ bond at $7,500, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.    His next court date is May 16.

Our animal cruelty laws aren’t sufficient in the United States.    The public is misinformed about animal cruelty being a felony in every state.   Most abusers are not charged with a felony.    Here we have a man not only wanting his dog to rip apart these innocent animals, but he enjoyed filming the ferocious and heartless attacks.  He can be heard laughing.    Then he brags while posting them online.    Why he is not being charged with felonies in this barbaric case of animal cruelty?

This will be a slap on the wrist for Eames.   This does not send a message for him to stop.     What will deter him or others from engaging in this form of brutality?   Our animal cruelty laws need to be much stronger than this so sick people like this can’t get away with their sadistic behavior!

Misdemeanor? Are you freaking kidding me? What are they thinking? Repeatedly having his pit bull mix tear animals to shreds and share the videos online. Our laws are a joke. Have his dog rip him apart and share the video. See who laughs then!

I only hope and pray that he will get “justice” in the hereafter, because it doesn’t appear that he’ll be given adequate punishment in this world. People like him are lower than low and don’t deserve any compassion.

      Gail,

No he won’t be given adequate punishment with only misdemeanor charges for the barbaric acts he had his dog do for “fun.”

I personally feel something is wrong with someone when they take joy in the torturous killing of any living being and he obviously did.

It’s pathetic that he will only receive a slap on the wrist.

      Thank you.
