National Mutt Day

National Mutt Day, also known as National Mixed Breed Dog Day is celebrated on both July 31st and December 2nd. National Mutt Day is all about embracing, saving and celebrating mixed breed dogs. The biggest percentage of dogs euthanized in due to the constant over-breeding and public desire of designer dogs and pure bred puppies that are sold to pet stores supplied by puppy mills that often produce ill and horribly neglected animals.

This special day was created to be celebrated on two dates per year to raise awareness of the plight of mixed breed dogs in shelters around the nation, to educate the public about the sea of mixed breed dogs that desperately await new homes and to celebrate the mazing breeds that make up your fur child’s lineage.

Mixed breed dogs tend to be healthier, better behaved, they live longer and are just as able to perform the duties of pure bred dogs – such as bomb and drug sniffing, search and rescue and guiding the blind. There are millions of loving and healthy mixed breed dogs sitting in shelters, who are desperately searching for a new home. One of the country’s most famous movie dogs is Benji, is a mixed breed Terrier.

So please visit your local shelter and find a new friend today! If you can’t adopt a mixed breed friend on
July 31st or December 2nd, please donate at least $5 to your local animal shelter, as they all need financial assistance and every dollar counts! You can also volunteer to walk a dog, donate food and other supplies needed to your local animal shelter or make a donation in the memory of a loved dog who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

ADOPT A MUTT! PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PETS!

Yay, I get to celebrate my dog! Who am I kidding? He gets celebrated every day. She’s the love of my life and the center of my world. She is the coolest little dog. My life is complete again with her in it! Her name is Sheba.

Go to your local shelter to adopt a mutt. There are millions of them all over the country waiting for someone, possibly YOU, to give them a new and forever home!

My “mutt” has helped me through my tough life. He has brought me out of a depression. He makes me laugh and giggle. He keeps me active. He’s brought a whole new perspective into my life. My life wasn’t good before I adopted him. The best thing I’ve ever done. His name is Niko and he’s the best dog!

All of my dogs have been “mutts” but I don’t ever call them that. “Mutts” are dogs that have been bred by two different breeds or more. When dogs are created by people, this is what they do. They’ve mixed other dogs to create a new breed. To me, they’re special breeds that aren’t inferior to any other dog. “Mutts” denotes an inferior dog and shouldn’t be used. They’re dogs. Some are designer dogs. Look at labradoodles, puggles, etc. Any breed of dog has been created when one or more breeds have been bred. I love my dogs!!!!!!

All of my dogs have been and will always be rescues. Most are mutts and they’ve been very good boys and girls. When you adopt or rescue a dog, they are forever grateful for that second chance you gave them. Always adopt. Don’t buy especially now during the Christmas season. Don’t buy from a pet store. The puppies come from puppy mills. The mommies and daddies live in hell to create puppies for pet stores. Buying a puppy from a pet store keeps the puppy mills in business and makes the dogs suffer and live a miserable existence. Please adopt! You won’t be sorry!
