On May 6th and 7th, 2017, the East Coast Exotic Animal Rescue located at 320 Zoo Road, Fairfield, Pennsylvania, 17320, is opening its doors again to the public during its Grand Reopening with free admission with games, face painting, food, music and educational presentations.
This exotic animal rescue is an 501C3 Non Profit animal sanctuary and not a zoo. They offer forever homes to exotic animals who have been displaced due to the pet trade, lab retiring, old age, and zoo surplus.
East Coast Exotic Animal Rescue
You will find more than 40 species of animals including carnivores, birds and reptiles at this hidden gem. Their goal is to allow each animal to live in sereneity and safety. The rescue has young animals and also senior family members with medical issues. The animals are not exhibits but family to the owners of the rescue. Many take some type of medication and receive the care and support he/she needs at each stage of life.
In 2014, the East Coast Exotic Rescue suffered a catastrophe in the pre-dawn hours of May 17. The main building of the rescue burned to the ground. The cause was a wireless router that caught fire. The sanctuary lost two cats in the fire. A volunteer caretaker who lived upstairs was alerted to the fire by a dog they had recently rescued. The caretaker was able to save 23 parrots and 3 monkeys. The building and its contents were a total loss. They have since been able to rebuild and now are reopening to the public.

Their business hours are 11 to 5 Saturday and Sundays through October weather permitting. $10 for adults, $5 for kids under 12 and under 2 is free!
Money that is donated or raised does not go to Safari Rides or air conditioned souvenir shop or dining facility, it goes to the animals well being and care. It may decrease your enjoyment if you do not understand this. Our greatest wish is that one day all exotics would be wild, safe and free and we would no longer be needed!

Wish I lived closer. I would go. Looks and sounds interesting. I hate when people buy exotic pets to raise as pets. They’re not meant for that. If anyone can exploit an animal for money, they will and exotics are no exception. I’m glad this place exists. Good luck to their Grand Reopening.
