TV Show – 11/1: HB 869 – Does This Bill Have One More Chance? ; Auto/Deer Collisions

October 31, 2016 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 18 Comments

Pennsylvania animal advocates were/are disappointed and upset that the comprehensive animal protection bill, HB 869, was not brought up for a vote last week in the House of Representatives.   Does this bill have one more chance at becoming law?

Senator Roy Afflerbach (Ret.) will be my guest tomorrow evening to discuss what happened last week in the House of Representatives and what we can do, if anything, to get the bill passed on November 14th.

In Pennsylvania, the Game Commission has put out a bulletin warning motorists about deer/auto collisions in light of the rut.   What is the “rut” and what should drivers be doing when on the roads to avoid these serious collisions?  Ed Eppenstein, Deer Expert, will join me to talk about this.

Join me tomorrow night at 7 PM (live) as these two important and timely topics are discussed on Ch. 15 (Comcast) Ch. 21 (Service Electric).   The program airs in Pennsylvania.  Can’t see the show in  your area?  Streamline the show live over the internet by clicking on this link.

Hi Julia, I don’t believe the show is available in your area. However, there are two ways for you to see it. You can streamline the show live as suggested in the article. I gave the link but I will give it to you again- http://www.bctv.org/bctv/watch_live/wl_bctv/. Copy and paste it and it will take you to the live show at 7 PM or you will be able to view the show , most likely tomorrow, on my website. The show will be up and running this week. Good luck.

Thanks. Senator Afflerbach is an extremely knowledgeable and informative and always a great guest!

I will streamline your show. Senator Afflerbach explains everything so well. Here’s hoping we get more chance with this bill. The deer are on the move. Bucks are chasing does. They run into traffic and get hit. 🙁

Yes, Sen. Afflerbach does explain everything extremely well. He’s a champion for the animals! Another yes regarding the deer on the move right now. People need to slow up more. Too many dead deer on the roadways which can cause serious automobile damage or worse.

      Thanks.

Tina, this was a great show especially with Senator Afflerback (?). He explained everything in detail and was thorough. I wish he could be a Senator again. He would be so helpful in getting animal legislation passed. I’m going to contact the Speaker and Majority Leader as you and Senator Afflerback said. I will be polite but demand justice for animals. Thanks for an informative

Thanks for watching the show and am very appreciative of your kind compliments. I agree with your sentiments. If Senator Afflerbach (ret.) would return to the political scene, it would be great especially for the animals!! As the Founder and former President of Humane PA PAC, Sen. Afflerbach is still helping animals on a grand scale.

Thank you for contacting our Representatives for HB869!!

When you see one of those signs, slow down!!!!!! I wish I had listened. My car was totaled and I watched the deer die. Not a pleasant sight. The deer are moving around because of the does coming into heat. They chase them. Before you know it the deer are on the road getting hit and killed. I enjoyed your show immensely. I learned more about HB869 due to the Senator. Quite impressed. Keep up with your perseverance and dedication. The show is a true asset. You let the public learn a whole host of animals!

I’m sorry to hear about your car being totaled. I can empathize with you. My car wasn’t totaled but did have significant damage and two different deer who came in contact with my car both died as a result of running into my cars.

Thank you for your kind comments. I am very glad you enjoy it. Is there any topic you would like to hear on the program?

I hope you call your Representative (s)for HB869!

Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated!

Wow, the footage of that deer bouncing from one car to another should make all drivers aware of what can happen and it does happen. I hit a deer and didn’t know it was a deer. I knew hit something. My car started smoking. I stopped in the right lane because I was completely startled and didn’t know what happened. I pulled over to the shoulder and realized after I pulled myself together that it was a deer who died as a result of the crash. 🙁 It was a buck and created significant damage to my car. They can run so fast that your car and their bodies can hit without you knowing what happened. Drive slower and be on the alert at all times!

Senator Roy Afflerbach is one of my favorite politicians. I know he’s no longer a Senator but he’s still involved a lot. He’s such a good man. He was very good on your show last night. I learned a few things that I didn’t know about hb 869. I don’t think it will pass but I hope I’m wrong!! That would make me happy to be wrong!

Former State Senator Afflerbach was just wonderful! He never disappoints. If we had more people like him in the Senate, we’d get more animal legislation passed. He sounds like he is reasonable and can work well with others. That’s necessary to get animal protection bills passed. He is one of my favorite guests on your show. Have him back on soon!

Pennsylvania lawmakers should be ashamed of themselves for not bringing this to the floor for a vote. You work for the people not the lobbyists!!!!! Know the difference!

And even if an animal can be prepared for such a stunt, there is undoubtedly stress to be suffered at some point — and for what?
