Hearing postponed indefinitely for 14-year-old girl charged with murder of cat rescuer, Al Chernoff, due to COVID-19

April 1, 2020 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 11 Comments

Ajahnae Smaugh, the 14-year-old girl who has been charged with the murder of animal advocate Al Chernoff, has had her March 25th hearing postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.    Smaugh’s hearings have been delayed since November due to her lawyers wanting more time to make their case for their client.

She was scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, March 25th that was also delayed but not due to any request on the part of her lawyers.

A representative for the District Attorney’s office said Smaugh’s hearing set for March 25th had been informally rescheduled for Wednesday, April 1st but that didn’t happen either.     Smaugh’s hearing was then rescheduled for next week believing it may be safe to return but that isn’t going to happen.

The hearing has been postponed indefinitely for now as the world combats the deadly COVID-19.      When the courts determine it’s safe for cases to move forward, her hearing will be rescheduled.

Smaugh remains incarcerated at this time.

At least she’s in jail instead of being free.

Al saved animals, he wasn’t a pedo, too bad he couldn’t save himself from the animal that murdered him. Al is surely missed.

They’ll probably let her out like they’re doing with other criminals.

She’s stuck in jail indefinitely now since dictator Wolf is keeping Pennsylvania shut down. That’s a good thing but other than that, we need to reopen.
