It’s official: Sharing a bed with a furry friend is bad for your sleep! Yawn.

June 6, 2014 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 8 Comments

According to a first of its kind study, Dr. Sowjanya Duthuluru M.D., says research conducted has shown that “sharing a bed with a furry friend is officially bad for your sleep.”

Out of 300 people surveyed, 148 were pet owners. More than half of those shared their beds or bedrooms with a furry friend.

They found pets disrupt sleep, whether it was due to their barks, meows, animated dreams of chasing cars or allergic reactions the pets might trigger.

First, this study is meaningless to me.  I’m smart and wise enough to know if my pet is bad for my sleep. A waste of money (if money was spent) to tell pet lovers of all kinds what is good for them and their pets regarding the bedroom.

Second, no study is going to advise me who sleeps in bed with me.

I  have always shared by my beds with my pets. I wouldn’t have it any other way. If they disrupt my sleep, I don’t mind nor do I care. My pets are members of my family and I will do as I wish when it comes to them as long as it’s in the best interest of both of us.

My pets love sharing my bed and I feel it helps us to form a tighter bond. A bond I won’t break because a study tells me so.

As you can see, Jazz is already in bed even though it isn’t bed time. He’s as bored with this study as I am.

Good night and don’t let the bed bugs bite!!

Zzzzzzzz

Do you think this research is going to change the dynamics of my bedtime rituals with my pets? Hell, no!

Are you freaking kidding me? Because a dr. says so, my dog is offically bad for my sleep. Yeah, don’t think so.

I always sleep with my dogs! They help me sleep better! All these studies prove nothing.

And if they did spend money, what a waste of good money that can be used for better uses such as helping animals.

Heck, we just went out and got some pet steps so our senior, no-so-limber-anymore pooch can get into (our) bed!
