Man Dies After Attack by Four Pit Bulls in Northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

November 24, 2017 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 5 Comments

A  man died after being attacked by four pit bulls Thanksgiving night before 9 PM when he entered the backyard of another’s home in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.    The name of the man has not been released.

Janet Walke, a neighbor, said she had just given the man a plate of food when he walked into the yard with four pit bulls.    Police say the victim knew the dogs’ owner.

Police fired one shot, killing one of the four attacking dogs causing the remaining dogs to run back into their home.

Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10,  “He was covered in dirt and mud. So, they couldn’t even tell or estimate his age at this time.”     The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:18 PM.

Police say he did not die from the bites but suspect a medical condition was a contributing factor to the man’s death.

An investigation is underway.

Y would someone walk into a yard where 4 pits live? There’s something not right about this story.

I don’t know why the man walked into the yard but it is known that he knew the person who lived there. Still, walking into a yard with four dogs who can be aggressive and unpredictable with their behavior was clearly a bad choice. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about this. Thank you.

Yeah, the whole story isn’t being told. He had to know those dogs. No one will walk into a yard with four pit bulls. No one. He didn’t die because of the pit bulls either!

At least you got the picture of a pit bull which is more than I can say of other news organizations. Some don’t even know the difference between a pit and a lab or a mixture.

The cops killed a dog despite the dogs biting isn’t the reason for this man’s death. At least they didn’t kill the other three.
