Senate Bill may stop PETA from killing the majority of animals

“In the end, it would be lovely if we stopped this whole notion of pets altogether.”

– PETA President, Ingrid Newkirk

The Senate in Virginia overwhelmingly passed a bill (SB 1381) which states that all shelters must find permanent adoptive homes for animals. Although Virginia shelters already do this, this bill would prevent PETA  (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) from killing cats and dogs at their “shelter” (pictured) in Norfolk.

Today, the Virginia House of Delegates will vote on this bill. While it seems like a no-brainer, PETA has hired a lobbyist to kill this bill.

If the bill passes, PETA won’t be allowed to kill the vast majority of dogs and cats they take in every year.

Despite what its name implies, PETA  is an organization that has knowingly killed over 30,000 animals over the last 13 years. In 2014, PETA killed over 80% of all animals in their facility.

At the bottom of this 2010 report, it shows 90% of animals were euthanized within the first 24 hours of custody at PETA’s “shelter.”

They have gone as far as stealing pets from people’s homes. Maya, the Chihuahua, was stolen from her front porch and placed in a PETA van. Wilbur Cerate noticed his dog was missing when he got home one Saturday in October 2014. “My chihuahua, when she sees my car, she come to me,” Cerate said. “That Saturday she did not come.”

Cerate has a security camera at his home. When he viewed the video, he saw two women getting out of the van with one walking up to his porch taking Maya and place her in the back of their van. The video clearly showed it was a PETA van parked at his house.  Some speculate Maya was killed before they women drove away.

PETA returned days later and said they were sorry about Maya. They gave Cerate a fruit basket.

“Yet approximately 2,000 animals pass through PETA’s front door every year and very few make it out alive. The vast majority — 96 percent in 2011 — exit the facility out the back door after they have been killed, when Pet Cremation Services of Tidewater stops by on their regular visits to pick up their remains. Between these visits, the bodies are stored in the giant walk-in freezer PETA installed for this very purpose. It is a freezer that cost $9,370 and, like the company which incinerates the bodies of PETA’s victims, was paid for with the donations of animal lovers who could never have imagined that the money they donated to help animals would be used to end their lives instead. In fact, in the last 11 years, PETA has killed 29,426 dogs, cats, rabbits, and other domestic animals.”

Should this bill pass in the House, section 3.2-6500 of the Code of Virginia will be amended to include language further defining a private animal shelter.

Ingrid Newkirk and her co-horts are in the wrong business. Despicable pieces of dirt to do what they do. They don’t want animals to be pets. Positively nuts.

I hope it passes today! I’m tired of their tactics. They take pet dogs and cats and kill them in their van. They think they’re God or something. They have to be stopped.

PETA is UNETHICAL for animals. They kill instead of saving animals. They make me sick. People still give money to this multi million dollar company.

PETA is a horrible and I mean horrible organization. They believe no one should have pets and they should be destroyed. Why do people give them money? I’m so sick of the corruption with animal groups. You need to research before you buy into their crap! So many aren’t helping the animals but are lining their wallets with your cash! I give only to rescues I know personally.
