October 3, 2016 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 7 Comments

In honor of and as an Ambassador for World Animal Day,  I presented the topic of Effective Animal Advocacy for my latest television show.   Adam Shriver of Penn Animal Advocacy was my guest.    As a member of the advocacy organization,  Shriver explains what methods are most effective to make changes for animals.    Hope you enjoy the show and please share your thoughts about the show in the comments section.

What do you think are the most effective tools to advocate for animals?

I believe like you that one person can make a difference even though as a group it’s possible to achiever more. I find working with a group mentality forces me into thinking and going along with what a group wants instead of digging my heels in and sticking with my own beliefs. Organizations are great and needed as are individuals. I don’t like when these large organizations keep asking me for more money no matter what has happened. They seize upon every opportunity to ask for money. I know HSUS makes a ton of money with a lot going to the administration. Pacelle makes a lot of money. He should be compensated but his outrageous salary is unnecessary. I guess I’ve gotten off the topic. Good show! Good guest! Never heard of Adam Shriver. Have him back on the show.

Social media can’t be undermined. It helps to get the word out on a much broader basis than before. It can pull people together immediately and fight something. It is a useful to combat animal cruelty. Sadly, social media is also used by people who showcase acts of animal cruelty. I don’t understand why facebook doesn’t close these pages down. Facebook has been known to close pages belonging to people who are trying to educate their friends on animal cruelty and in the process show videos of what other people to animals. They get slammed for trying to help but animal abusers get to keep their abusive videos up. It’s disgusting and I hope facebook stops this practice.
