TV Show – Danielle DiNapoli/Scruffles Law / What to do if Your Cat is Stuck in a tree!

May 18, 2018 by Tina Evangelista-Eppenstein 6 Comments

On tonight’s episode of A Close-Up Look at Animal Welfare Issues,  Danielle DiNapoli, will be joining me to talk about the recent deaths of pets at PetSmart grooming salons after her own dog died at a New Jersey PetSmart grooming salon in December 2017.   Four dogs died within five months since December.   Another dog suffered a serious back injury during a grooming app’t at a PetSmart salon.   More people have come forward to share their tragic stories of their pets dying or injured at the same store chain grooming salons across the U.S since Scruffles’ untimely and tragic death.

DiNapoli will share the sad story of her  8 year old Bulldog, Scruffles, who died on December 29th, 2017 during a routine grooming appointment and how she was treated after her beloved family member passed away while in the care of PetSmart.     Another dog died day within two days of being groomed at the same store in New Jersey.   That dog, Ranger, died just days before Scruffles.   DiNapoli will talk about Scruffles Law which wants to help pet owners/guardians to receive punitive damages if a similar incident happens to another dog.    As of now,  pets are seen as property and you can only receive economic loss of your pet.      This needs to change.    A very heartfelt story about Scruffles.

In another segment, I will share a personal story of how my husband saved a cat that was stuck in a tree for four days!   Apparently, this cat became a bit of a social media sensation and both of us didn’t know it.    I will also share tips on what to do if your cat or any cat is stuck in a tree.   Do you know who to call in the event your cat gets stuck in a tree?  You may  be surprised what the answer is!!    I will be writing an upcoming article about the entire incident and you may be shocked what my husband and I found out!!!

So be sure to join me this evening at 7:oo PM.    Streamline the show here.   The show will be uploaded to YouTube within a day.

Really good show. Sad to hear about Scruffles. How do their grooming salons stay in business? I’d never take my dogs to them after hearing the stories. Your husband was awesome to save that cat! I can’t believe he was in the tree for 4 days! The cat is pretty. Was he adopted?

      Sarah,

Thank you for the kind words. I don’t know how PetSmart grooming salons stay in business with so many deaths and/or injuries associated with the place. These recent deaths have certainly put a bright spotlight on their grooming practices. We’ll have to wait and see if anything changes. I feel there have to be changes because no pet should die during a grooming appointment. You will have freak accident but this number of animals dying or being injured is very scary.

My husband did a great job with the cat. It wasn’t easy to get the cat out of the tree. He was apprehensive since he was the only one there at the time of rescue. There were others who had tried unsuccessfully to get this cat out of the tree previously. There was one woman who rallied and worked hard to rescue this cat. As I said, getting the cat out of the tree was no easy task. He wanted to be in that tree. I’m just so glad the cat is ok and he is now adopted!!! I will be writing an article on my husband’s adventure rescuing the cat. A director of a local shelter called him a hero for being able to get the cat out of the tree after FOUR long day but Ed doesn’t think of himself as a hero in the least. He’s just so glad the cat is ok. More on that story later.

      Thanks, Sarah!

Pet Smart sucks! How are they still in business doing pet grooming after so many deaths? You’d think they would close shop because animals are dying in their salons. Greed. I won’t ever shop at Pet Smart again!

While there are clients who’ve never had an issue with their pets being groomed at PetSmart, there have been too many deaths associated with them. I don’t know how their salons are still in business.

      Thank you.

Have more animals died at PetSmart? How can they still be in business with so many animals dying at their salons? If this was a mom and pop operation, they’d be closed up by now.

I keep receiving emails from PetSmart. I’ve unsubscribe since all of this crap happened with dogs dying. THey claim how they’ve helped to save lives. I wrote to them and told them they’ve killed animals. No reply just their stupid emails.
